Editor’s Note: The following is a “forensic” review. We have not yet had the opportunity to test the Ergotron WorkFit-Z Mini in our labs. When we have been unable to obtain a review unit from the manufacturer and when there is demand from our readers for information on the product, we evaluate publicly available information that the manufacturer and users of the product have provided online. We then apply our extensive experience evaluating standing desks and make an informed projection of how well this product will stack up against other products in its category. As soon as we are able to conduct a hands-on evaluation of the product or learn new information about it, we will update this review. Learn more about our review process at Anatomy of a Review.

Key Facts

  • A smaller converter designed to fit tighter spaces
  • Member of the trusted Ergotron WorkFit line
  • X-Lift mechanism (most others in this product line are Z-Lift)
  • Available only in grey woodgrain finish
  • 2-year warranty (shorter than other products in the same line which feature a 5-year warranty)

The WorkFit-Z Mini is the smallest member of the Ergotron’s WorkFit line of standing desk converters, with a 31” x 21” footprint. Designed for the space-starved, the WorkFit Z will accommodate your single monitor, laptop, or tablet comfortably without occupying too much space. The work surface even features a handy tablet holder (typically, using your standing desk converter for just a tablet is overkill, but with a product this small, it’s a believable use-case). The Z is available in a nifty grey woodgrain finish which gives it an aesthetic edge over competitors, but it would be nice to see a plain black version available to better suite a wider variety of decors.

The WorkFit Z is designed to accommodate screens up to only 24”, and its weight capacity is 25 lbs—those with larger or heavier monitors should opt for a larger converter. For those not strapped for space space, Ergotron’s other models such as the WorkFit-T make more sense. Stay tuned or our in-depth evaluation of this product and get the low-down on its stability and design as we test it in our lab.
