We always advise our readers not to underestimate the value of a quality anti-fatigue mat. This crucial accessory gives your feet, legs, and back the support they need to work in standing comfort for hours at a time. While everyone wants superior comfort, anti-fatigue mats can be expensive, and not everyone has the money to spare for a premium mat—but that doesn't mean you have to subject yourself to a lousy product. iMovR's solution is to take the unsurpassed quality and durability of their EcoLast Premium Standing Mat and create a smaller, slightly thinner budget model.
Low Price, High Expectations
Anti-fatigue mats can reach upwards of $150 as a starting price. The iMovR EcoLast Economy Standing Mat is offered for $69.95, which puts it in competition with other budget-class mats like the Genuine Joe or Varidesk's imaginatively-named The Mat. However, unlike these and many other budget options, the Economy doesn't suffer from embarrassingly low quality or minimal warranty coverage—it is a unibody mat made with 100% polyurethane, the gold standard for constructing anti-fatigue mats. For details about how materials and construction affect standing mat quality, take a look at The Real Differences Between the Best Anti-Fatigue Mats and the Worst.
Compared to the disposable mats you'll find at that price point, which lose buoyancy, start to curl at the edges, and collect cuts and discolorations in as little as a year, the Economy is a long-lived alternative. Using solid polyurethane makes it a resilient mat, able to withstand abrasion, puncture, and other wear and tear. Its top surface is easy to clean, anti-microbial, and stain-proof. The Economy's price drop can be attributed to clever resizing on iMovR's part. They shaved off 1/8" of thickness, used 20% less polyurethane density as compared to the EcoLast Premium mat, and decreased its footprint.
The downside to the Economy is that it has no customization options. It comes in only one color, black, so if you are looking for a mat to match your decor, you may want to turn to other anti-fatigue mats like the EcoLast Designer Granite mat.
The Economy also lacks size options. While it will satisfy the majority of standing desk users, some may find the mat too constraining and will long for the freedom of movement that comes with larger anti-fatigue mats. However, due to its smaller size, it does work well atop a walking treadmill to relieve pain during standing breaks if you have a treadmill desk.
Against similarly-priced anti-fatigue mats, the iMovR EcoLast Economy Standing Mat completely outperforms. Although it lacks color and size options, it boasts a longer lifespan, superior warranty, and higher quality material than its budget competitors. The Economy strikes the correct balance of support and quality necessary for affordable all-day standing.
