At WorkWhileWalking we’ve been lab testing and writing detailed product reviews of standing desks and treadmill desks since 2013, so as you might imagine we run into under-desk cable management issues all the time.
What may seem like a very simple task, tucking away loose cords to be out of view, turns out to get rather complex when those cords have to have enough slack in them to move freely when raising and lowering the desk.
There are many under-desk wire management solutions on the market today, both from the leading standing desk ecommerce brands as well as what’s available a la carte on marketplaces like Amazon. We review all the under-desk wire management solutions as well as the individual pieces: under-desk cable trays, under-desk cable spines, underdesk cable tracks, cable sleeves and all the other common bits used to manage wires under a table.
Our focus in these reviews is obviously on sit-to-stand desks and treadmill desks, but there’s a new category forming as well (only one product introduced so far) of cable management solutions for standing desk converters, particular for X-lift and Z-lift variety.
Lastly we have a primer just for DIY standing desk builders, with helpful guidance on how to make your own DIY under-desk cable management system.
The three Tucker Cable Management kits (Basic, Advanced and Pro) are well-considered levels to fit different use cases and budgets.
The iMovR Tucker Pro kit addresses the need for cable management for standing desk converters, which is the first attempt we've seen and a great idea.
The StandDesk Mesh Taco is a nice idea: A mix between a cable management modesty panel and a cable tray. Unfortunately, there are some downsides.
