UpLift Cable Tray

Before cable management kits became a thing we used the simple hack of screwing a power strip directly to the underside of our desks, but using a cable tray is definitely a better solution. For one thing, many devices (such as laptops) come with power cords that include a transformer brick and a lot of excess power cord length you don’t need if you’re using a power bar under your desk. The tray is a great place to keep all that clutter out of view and improve the ergodynamics of your workstation.

The Best Desk Cable Tray Options

We rate the best cable tray systems below.

1. iMovR Tucker Cable Management Tray

Experts’ Rating: 5-Stars

The iMovR Tucker Cable Management Tray has no weaknesses. The 5-year warranty blows away other cable trays. Installation is very easy thanks to the adhesive that holds the tray in place while putting in screws. The plastic is strong. You can remove the top if you want to mount it on a wall. All of this at a comparable price to other cable trays.

2. Fully Cable Management Tray

Experts’ Rating: 0.5-Star

Fully almost succeeds in crafting an excellent cable tray. There’s a (short) warranty. It’s priced competitively. The design isn’t the best we’ve seen for containing cables, but it’s also not the worst. Th issue is an underwhelming 10-lb weight capacity. In a category with many similar options, there’s no reason to pick this lightweight.

3. StandDesk SmartCord Cable Management Mesh Taco

Experts’ Rating: 2-Stars

We can’t recommend buying something that doesn’t list dimensions, full stop. Buyers have no idea what they’re getting or if it will fit even fit their desk. The Mesh Taco is also about triple the price of standard cable trays. This is a nice idea that’s not fully formed.

4. UpLift Magnetic Cable Organizing Channel

Experts’ Rating: 2-Stars

We love that it’s reusable, but the design won’t allow it to work well on many standing desks. Also, it’s only a partial solution because you still have to get cables from the bottom of the channel to where they need to end up.

5. StandDesk SmartCord Cable Management Tray

Experts’ Rating: 1-Star

This tray looks and feels like a complete afterthought. StandDesk didn’t bother to even list the length or a single dimension. The design forces you to watch how you distribute weight, a difficult thing to accomplish in a cable tray and if you don’t do this well enough, it could damage your desktop. To top all this off, it’s somehow more than twice the price of other baseline cable management trays.
